RESOLUTION
C1TY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA f(p

1 WHEREAS, as a member, the City of Saint Paul has a long and proud tradirion of active leadership
2 conhiburion to the various govemmentally owned non-profit public benefit orgaui7ations that exist to support
3 the mission of local government; and,
4 WHEREAS, these organizations provide for the reimbursement of all travel related expenditures to
5 participa6ng governmental employees; and,
6 WHEREAS, the employees that represent Saint Paul at these organizauons' tecluucal, policy, and governance
7 body meetings typically volunteer significant personal time and effort to improve Saint Paul's ability to serve
8 the public; and,
9 WHEREAS, Saint Paul benefits from the increased technical competencies and professional abilities of the
10 employees that participate in these organizations; and,
11 WHEREAS, past participation by employees on the boards of directors of these organizafions has resulted in
12 millions of dollars of positive local economic impact due to increased convention and visitor activity; and,
13 WHEREAS, the cost of employees while engaged in these organiza.tions represents a very small fraction of
14 total employee cost
15 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council encourages and supports the
16 participation of City employees in governmentally owned non-profit public benefit organizations that exist to
] 7 support the mission of local government.
