WI�REAS, Chapter 473, Laws of Minnesota 1967, provide that
the Ramsey County Welfare Board is permitted to pay for the services
of an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Saint Paul to be
assigned to handle welfare cases; and
WI-�REAS, The Ramsey County Welfare Board on June 27,� 1967,�
voted to approve the request of Joseph P. Simmmers, Corporation Counsel, �
for the appointment of one Assistant Corporation Counsel and appropriate
clerical staff to handle welfaxe matters; and
WI-IEREAS, The Welfare Budget Advisory Committee, on July 20,
1967, recommended approval of the request of the Welfare Board for the
employment of an Assistant Corporation Counsel and appropriate clerical
staff, as authorized by the 1967 legislature; and
WHEREAS, The City Council and the Board of County Commissioners
included $12,000.00 to be used for this purpose in the annual budget
for the Ramsey County Welfare Department; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the City Council concnr in the action of the
Ramsey County Welfare Board approving the employment of an Assistant ��
Corporation Counsel and appropriate clerical staff to handle welfare �
matters; be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Comptroller of the City of Saint
Paul is hereby authorized and directed to accept from the Ramsey County
Welfare Departmsht such appropriation as the Ramsey County Welfare
Board shall authorize for said purpose and such appropriation shall
be deposited in Comptroller's Account No. 0030-136.

� the services of an Assistant City Attorney to. be assigned to handle
, welfare cases in that office. The City Council and the Board of County
; Commissioners included $12,000 to be used for this purpose, subject to
� permissive action by the State Legislature. � -

� Mr. Swnmers estimates that the cost of employing an A ssistant
City Attorney and appropriate clerical staff for the remainder of this
� year will be approximately $8,000.00.
