' Board to increase stipends for the residents assigned by the Uni- .
versity of• Minnesota Hospitals to the �Saint .Paul-Ramsey Hospital
by $250.00 for the last six�months o:F 1967, for a total of $9,750.00.
� • • Dr. Broadi�� informed the Board at its meeting on Jul.y ll+:h '
, ' that th� Joint Eclucational Council ,favors the increase iti stipends
for� these ,resident physicians,: Since a11 of the residents of the
.University of Minnesota Hospitals are receiving an .increase in stipend '
, as of July .l, 19G7, Dr., Broadie was quite anxious that this matter be
� -, settled so that the irlcrease could be effective in the July paychecics.
� . • � Since. the resident staff provides important medical and doctors ' ser- �
� . . ° vices to the patients, he believ�s that it is necessary that this
' matter be settled as soon as possible. . . - '
� • The Welfare Board� suggested that since all o'f the members of .
• the Advisory Commitfee, as well as the members of the City Council and .
• : Board of.�County Commissioners,have had copies of my letter of July 7th, .
. . • 'it might •be possible for you to poll the comini�ttee members to obtain '

Dr. Maynard E. Jacobson of the Department of Mec7.icine at the University
of Minnesota, in a letter to Dr. Robert Ulstrom, Associate Dean, stated
