R'EIEREAS, Saint Paul City Charter § SA2 pernuts rhe City, upon recommendation of the City Attpmey
and in the case of special or unusual c'ucumstances, to appoint outside counsel to represent the City; and
WFIEREAS, special and unusual conditions exist in the defense of the City in the litigation of workers
compensation claims, to wit: the need for specialized expertise in the workers compensation ]aw; and
WHEREAS, because of the special and unusual conditions regazding the defense of the City in the
litigation of workers wmpensation claims, the City Attorney recommends the appointment of outside counsel for
this purpose;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the appropriate ciry officials are hereby authorized to retain the
following law firms of to represent the City in the defense of the City in the litigation of workers compensation
claims under a sepazate legal services agreement which shall be consistent with the City Attorney's Office Policy
Regazding Fees for Legal Services by Outside Counsel and the City Attorney's Office Policy and Procedure for
Retaining Outside Legal Counsel. Legal service fees for the said fum to be taken from the approved budget for the
litigation of workers compensation claims :

• Johnson and Condon P.A.
• Koll, Morrison, Charpen6er & Hagstrom
• McCollum, Crowley, Moschet and Miller.
