Dear Commissioner Carlson: !
F I
Re: Amendment to Parking Ordinance b
r
E
Chief McAuliffe and Captain Anderson of the Traffic and ► ' `
Accident Division have asked that our parking ordinance be
amended so that people cannot park their cars in nonmetered
restricted parking zones beyond the time allowed.

It seems that the officer chalkmarks the tires and the ,.
motorist then moves his car a few feet and reparks it. It '

is common practice for a few employees in an area to repark E '
an entire block by exchanging parking places. This leads to
complaints by the residents in the area and reflects upon the i ;
competence of our Police Department. _
', ,
The City of Minneapolis has solved this problem by
I
utilizing the language in the attached ordinance. Could you
please introduce the ordinance to cover this problem.

  Very truly yours, i
