RESOLUTION REQUESTING STATE
PARTICIPATION IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF
TRAFFIC SIGNAL AT
STATE TRUNK HIGHWAY 51 (SNELLING AVE.)
AT ST. ANTHONY AVE. AND CONCORDIA AVE.
IN SAINT PAUL
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is proposing to revise the Traffic Control Signal System and
complete related work at the intersections of State Trunk Highway 51 (Snelling Avenue) at St.
Anthony Ave. and Concordia Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota Department of Transportation participates in the funding of
Traffic Signal construction based on standard reviews, ratios and perceived benefits to the State
owned roadways; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul hereby requests the State of Minnesota Department of
Transportation participate in an equitable manner in the cost of the construction of said Traffic
Signal system.

St. Paul Pubfic Works has completed a study that indicates Tra�c Signal improvements are just+fied at the intersections of
Snelling Ave. and St. Anthony Ave./Concordia Ave. The Traffic Signal poles and other signal equipment at both
intersections are in poor physical condition and need to be replaced. The Tra�c Signal systems presently at both
intersections were installed in 1964 with some pedestrian improvements added in 1986.
The City wishes to enter a funding agreement with the Minnesnta Depmartment of Transportation.
AWAMAGES IF APPF20VED:
State funding may be obtained for replaceing existing signal infrastructure in poor physical condition.
Revising the fraffic signals at both intersections will benefit drivers by improving the operation of the intersection.
