WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul has been advised that the
Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad has filed a
petition with the Interstate Commerce Commission seekin.g
permission to abandon passenger trains 15 and 16 operating
between the Twin Cities and Aberdeen, South Dakota; and "
WHEREAS, �he City has been further advised that the
Public Service Commission of the State of Minnesota has filed
a protest with the Interstate Commerce Commission opposing
such passenger train abandonment and asking that the matter
be set down. for hearin.g at a location or locations within the
State of Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, Abandonment of these passen.ger �tra.ins would
operate to the detriment of the citizens of this City and to
the detriment of the general public in the metropolitan area;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Honorable Thomas R. Byrne, Mayor of the
` City of Saint Paul, is hereby autho�rized to appear at such
hearing as may be set in the above--captioned matter to represent
the interests of the citizens of the City of Saint Paul and to
testify in opposition to abandonment of the aforesaid passenger
trains 15 and 16; be it
FUR,THER RESOLVED, That the City Clerk is hereby directed to
transmit forthwith a copy of this resolution to the Secretary
of the Interstate Commerce Commission. �
