WI�REAS, The Committee on Lands, composed of the Mayor, the Purchasing
Agent, the Commissioner of Finance, and the Commissioner of Public Works of
the City of Saint Pau1, has secured an ao eement for the purchase of that
certain property described as follows:
That part of Lot l, Block 11, Warren & Winslows addition to the
Town of St. Paul, lying north of Collins Street, acc. ; and
WHEREAS, The property desci^ibed therein is necessary for the opening
and widening of the Arch-Pennsylvania Highway from Lafayette Road to Payne
Avenue, and the price at which the property may be purchased is at the
total amount of $21,500.00, a fair and reasonable price according to the
appraisal obtained by the Committee on Lands; and
WHEREAS, Said Conunittee has recommended the purchase of said property
at the price stated above, as evidenced by the letter of said Committee
submitted herewith; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That pursuant to Section 303 of the Charter of the City of
Saint Paul, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby authorize
the purchase of the land described as:

That part of Lot l, Block 11, Warren & Winslows addition to the
Town of St. Paul, lying north of Collins Street., acc. ; and
RESOLVED Further that the proper 8ity officials are hereby authorizec�
and directed to pay to Michael F. and Jeanette Maggi, record fee owners,
the swn of $21,500.00 upon their furnishing evidence of good marketable
title in the aforesaid vendors, from PIR Fund Code 6000, to be reimbursed
from Bond Fund No. 7200-ST-32, and �the total payment to be made upon tender
by said parties of appropriate deeds conveying title to said property to
th� City of Saint Paul.

Gentlemen:
The City of Saint Paul, acting through its Valuation Engineer
has negotiated to purchase certain property_ described as follows:
That part of Lot l, Block 11, Warren & Winslows addition
to the Town of St. Paul, lyino north of Collins Street, acc. ,
The owners of the above described land, Michael F. and Jeanette
Maggi, have accepted an offer tendered them•by the City in the
amount of $21,500..00,. as compensation for the sale of the said land
to the City.
This property, including land and buildings, is needed by the City
of Saint Paul for the opening and widening of the Arch-Pennsylvania
Highway from Lafayette Road to Payne Avenue. In view of the reason-
able price f°or which it can be purchased, said price being the
appraised fair and reasonable marl<et value thereof, we, the Com-
mittee on Lands, do recommend to the Counci:l of the City of Saint
Paul that it authoz°ize the purchase of said land in lieu of condem-
nation proceedings at the price of $21,500.00 as negotiated with
the owners. �
