RESOLVED Further that the proper city officials are hereby authorized and
directed to pay to Frank J. and Lorraine H. Ganas, record fee owners, the
sum of $14,500.00, said sum to be paid to the aforesaid vendors, from
Fund 9767-501-004, upon their furnishing evidence of good marketable title
in the aforesaid vendors, and the total payment to be made upon tender by
said parties of appropriate deeds conveying title to said property to the
City of Saint Paul.

Gentlemen:
The City of Saint Pau1, acting through its Valuation Engineer, has negoti-
ated to purchase certain property described as follows:
All that part of Lot 3, Block 16, Merriams Rearrangement of Merriam
Park (as to Blocks 7, 8, 9, 10 & 16) described as follows: Commen-
cing at a point on the south line of said Lot 3, 19.05 ft, west of
the southeast corner thereof; thence north parallel with the east
line of said Lot 3, 35 feet to a point; thence west parallel with
the south line of said Lot 3, 57.95 feet more or less, to a point
on the southeasterly line of Terrace Park Avenue; thence southerly
along the said southeasterly line �of Terrace Park Avenue 71 feet,
more or less, to the southwest corner of the aforesaid Lot 3;
thence easterly along the south line of said Lot 3, 118.95 feet to
the place of beginning.
, The owners of the above described land, Frank J. and Lorraine H. Ganas,
have accepted an offer tendered them by the City in the amount of $14,500
as compensation for the sale of the said land to the City.
This property, including land and buildings, is needed by the City of
Saint Paul for the expansion of Merriam Terrace Park�. In view of the
reasonable price for which it can be purchased, said price being the
appraised fair and reasonable market value thereof, we, the Committee
on Lands, do recommend to the Council of the City of Saint Pau1 that it
authorize the purchase of said land in lieu of condemnation proceedings
at the price of $14,500.00 as negotiated with the owners.

WI-IEREAS, The Committee on Lands, composed of the Mayor, the Purchasing Agent,
the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings, and the Com-
missioner of Finance of the City of Saint Paul, has secured an agreement for
the purchase of that certain property described as follows:
All that part of Lot 3, Block 16, Merriams Rearrangement of Merriam
Park (as to Blocks 7, 8, 9, 10 & 16) described as follows: Commencing
at a point on the south line of said Lot 3, 19.05 ft, west of the south-
east corner thereof; thence north parallel with the east line of said
Lot 3, 35 feet to a point; thence west parallel with the south line of
said Lot 3, 57.95 feet more or less, to a point on the southeasterly -
line of Terrace Park Avenue; thence southerly along the said south-
easterly. line of Terrace Park Avenue 71 feet, more or less, to the
southwest corner of the aforesaid Lot 3; thence easterly along the
south line of said Lot 3, 118.95 feet to the place of beginning, acc. ; and
WI-IEREAS, The proper-ty described therein is necessary for the expansion of
Merriam Terrace Park, and the price at which the property may be purchased is
at the total amount of $14,500.00, a fair and reasonable price according to
the appraisal obtained by� the Committee on Lands; and

WHEREAS, Said Committee has recommended the purchase of said property atYthe
price statedlabove,, as evidenced by the letter of said Committee submitted
herewith; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That pursuant to Section 303 of the Charter of the City of Saint
Paul, the Council of the City of Saint Pau1 does hereby authorize the purchase
of the land described as:
