WHEREAS, The City of Saint Paul Division of Parks and Recreation is a member of the Minnesota
Parks and Recreation Association, and

WHEREAS, [he Minneso[a Parks and Recreation Association is an organization dedicated to improving
the quality of life by promoting parks, recreation and leisure services within Minnesota; and
WHEREAS, Minnesota Parks and Recreation Association annually selects and recognizes by awazd,
examples of excellence in paxks and recreation facilities from within its membership, and
WHEREAS, the recently completed Samuel H. Morgan Regional Trail is part of the City Parks Trail
System, the Regional Park TTail System, and is also within Che National Park Service's Mississippi
National River Recreation Area making it a facility of local, regional and national significance, and
WHEREAS, the Samuel H. Morgan Regional trail was nominated for consideration for the Minnesota
Parks and Recreation Association Award of Excellence, and
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Pazks and Recreation Association presents an Award of Excellence for Parks
and Recreation Facilitv Desien and Develonment to the City of Saint Paul for the Samuel H. Morgan
Regional Trail, now therefore, be it
15 RESOLVED, that the City Council, on behalf of the City of Saint Paul hereby accepts the Minnesota
16 Parks and Recreation Association Award of Excellence For Parks and Recreation Facility Design and
17 Development for the Samuel H. Morgan Regional Trail and thanks the organization for this prestigious
18 honor.
