A't the time of his death, Mr. Engelbert was president and general manager of St. Paul Book & Stationery Co. , a firm he had been as'sociated with for 45 years ; born in Step�en, Minnesota, Mr. Engelbert had lived in St. Paul 46 years ; he was a graduate of the University of Minnesota and did post-graduate work at the Uni.versity of London and Geo-rge Washington University, in Washi��.gton, D. C. ; he was pas.t president of the St. Paul Rotary _ ° . Club, the National School Service Institute and the Committee on� Education of the U. S. Chamber of Commerce; one of the founders of Downtown, In.c. , he served as its first president; always active in education matters , he has headed scholarship fun.d drives , and served on the board of trustees of Macalester College ; he was a ' , � co-founder of "the Minnesota State High School Hockey touxnament � '� and a sponsor-. of the St. Paul Quarterback Club meetings for- 25 , years ; his contributions to civic affairs and commun.i�`y'� projects ,� , . and developments. in the interests of the City of Sairi:t._ Paul._we.�e„�,-�w.==':� � �--- considerable ; be it u�.��.,' - .. ___. � FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Council, on behalf of each of its members , and on behalf of the citizens of the City of Saint Paul, hereby extends to Mr. Engelbert ' s wife, Carol Slocum Engelbert, to� his daughters , Mrs. Peter Pierce, and Mrs . Conway Burton, to . his son, Elmer E. Engelbert, Jr. , to his sisters , Mrs. John .Fowler and Mrs . FI. H.
