Marshall - City Clerk Room 386 City Hall I Dear Sir: Thil, is in reference to the appeal of Sheehy Construction Company pertaining to property located at the northwest corner of Tenth and Wabasha Stre_ets.. .. This property is further described as Lots 10,11,12, Bla4le 2 Bazil and Guerin's Addition. On June 19, 1968 the Zoni.ng Board received� a copy of �a resolution (C.F. #239062) passed by the City Council on June 18, 1968 which directed the Zoning Board to hold a public hearing concerning this matter on June 20, 1968. It should be noted that due to the short time period before the Zoning Board meeting, no notices were sent out �to adjoining property owners. The ppellant is requesting a variance in the lot area requi.rements to allow the construction of a 75-unit apartment building. This structure will be built as a "Turnkey" public housing for the elderly project. After construction is completed, it will be purchased by the Housing and Redevelopment Authority of the City of Saint Paul. A 75-unit structure normally �rould require 75,000 square feet of lot area. The site in quest?on has approximately 22,500 square feet. A variance to allow a 71-unit apartment .building on this site was granted by the City Council in June, 1966. C�onstruction of the private 71-.unit building was initiated but never � � completed.� It was the findings� of the Zoning Board that a 5o adjustment in the 1966 variance is reasonable. The Board of Zoning waived the Board rule ' to mail notices to adjacent property owners and recommended approval of the requested variance to allow construction of a 75-unit structure for public housing for the elderly. 1 � Very truly yours, � ' ��� � .
