WHERFAS, The Committee on Lands, composed of the Mayor, the
Purchas ng Agent, and the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public
Buildings of the City of Saint Pau1, has secured an agreement for the pur-
chase of that certain property described as follows:
The North 1/2 of Lot 1 and the North 1/2 of the East 20 feet of
, Lot 2, Block 16, Merriams Rearrangement of Merriam Park (as to
Blocks 7, 8, 9, 10, & 16) acc. ; and
WHEREAS, The property described therein is necessary for the
expansion of Merriam Terrace Park, and the price at which the property may
be purchased is at the total amou.nt of $8,750.00, a fair and reasonable
price according to the appraisal obtained by the Committee on Lands; and
WI-�REAS, Said Committe� �has recommended the purchase of said
proper-ty at the price stated above, as evidenced by the letter of said
Committee submitted herewith; n�, therefore, be it

� RESOLVED._, That pursuant to Section 303 of the Charter of the City
of Saint Paul, the Council of the City of Saint Paul does hereby authorize
the purchase of the land' described as: �`
. The North 1/2 of Lot 1 and�� the North 1/2 of the East 20 feet of '
Lot 2, Block 16, Merriams Rearrangement of Merriam Park (as to
Blocks 7, 8, 9, 10, & 16) acc. ; and
RESOLVED Further that the proper city officials are hereby author-
ized and directed to pay to James W. and Mildred A. Ryan, record fee owners,
and John J. Jr, and Dolores E. Colbert, contract for deed vendees, the sum
of $8,750.00, said sum to be paid to the aforesaid vendors, from Fund 9767-
501��004, upon their furnishing evidence of good marketable title in the
aforesaid vendors, and the total payment to be made upon tender by said
parties of appropriate deed con eying title to said property to the City of
Saint Paul.

Gentlemen:
The City of Saint Pau1, acting through its Valuation Engineer,
has negotiated to purchase certain property described as .
follows:
The North 1/2 of Lot 1 and the North 1/2 of the East 20
� feet of Lot 2, Block 16, Merriams Rearrangement of
Merriam Park (as to Blocks 7, 8, 9, 10 & 16) .
The contract owners of the above described lands, John J. Jr, and
Dolores E. Colbert, have accepted an offer tendered them by the
City in the amount of $8,750.00 as compensation for the sale of •
the said land to the City, t• .
This property, including land and buildings, is needed by the
City of Saint Paul for the expansion of Merriam Ter,race Park.
In view of the reasonable price for which it can be purchased,
said price being the appraised fair and reasonable market value
thereof, we, the Committee on Lands, do recorrunend to the Council
of the City of Saint Pau1 that it authorize the purchase of the
said land in lieu of condemnation proceedings at the price of
$8,750.00 as negotiated with the owners.
