WHEREAS, The Committee on Lands, composed of the Mayor, the
Purchasing Agent, and the Commissioner of Public Works of the City
of Saint Pau1, has secured an agreement for the purchase of that
certain property described as follows:
Lot four (4) , Middents Rearrangement of Lots 1 and 2 of
Block 29 of Lafond's Addition to Saint Paul, acc.
WHEREAS, The property described therein is necessary for the
opening and widening of Marion Street from University Avenue to
Como Avenue, and the price at which the property may be purchased
is at the total amount of $8,000, a fair and reasonable price
according to the appraisal obtained by the Committee on Lands; and
WHEREAS, Said Committee has recommended the purchase of said
property at the price stated above, as evidenced by the letter of
said Committee submitted herewith; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That pursuant to Section 303 of the Charter of the

City of Saint_Paul, the C.ouncil of the City of Saint Paul does
hereby authorize the purchase -of the land described as:
Lot four (4) , Middents Rearrangement of Lots 1 and 2 of
Block 29 of Lafond's Addition to Saint Paul, acc.
RESOLVED Further that the proper city officials are hereby
authorized and directed to pay to Oscar Robins and Arthur E. Thom,
Inc. , record fee owners, and Duane A. Bailey, contract for deed
vendee, the sum of $8,000, said sum to be paid to the aforesaid
vendors, from PIR Fund Code 6000, to be reimbursed from 1968 M.S.A.
Fu.nd, Project No. 64-160-05, upon their furnishing evidence of good
marketable title in the aforesaid vendors, and the total payment
to be made upon tender by said parties of appropriate deeds
conveying title to said property to the City of Saint Paul.

Gentlemen; ,
The City of Saint Paul, acting through its Valuation Engineer,
has negotiated to purchase certain property described as follows:
Lot four (4) , Middents Rearrangement of Lots 1 and 2 of
Block 29 of Lafond1s Addition to Saint Paul, acc.
The owner of the� above described lands, Duane A. Bailey, has
accepted an offer tendered him by the City in the amou.nt of -
$8,000.00 as compensation for the sale of the said land to the
C ity.
This property, including land and buildings, is needed by the
City of Saint Pau1 for right-of-way for the opening and widening
of Marion Street from University Avenue to Como Avenue. In view
of the reasonable price for which it can be purchased, said price
- being the appraised fair and reasonable market value thereof, we, ,
the Committee on Lands, do recommend to the Council of the City
_ of Saint Pau1 that it authorize the purchase of said land in lieu
of condemnation proceedings at the price of $8,000.00, as nego-
tiated with the owner.
