Members of the City Council City of Saint Paul � Gentlemen: During the month of September, 1967, one of your sewer cleaning crews was cleaning the�public sewer in f`ront of my hom.e at 1597 Old. Hudson Road. During the course of their cleaning operations, they forced some sewage and wa,ter to back up into my basement. I immedi- , ately pointed this out to a Mr. Blewett Vrho tiaas in charge of this crew and he vex�r obligingly had his people help me clean up the basement. � The Ci�y of Sai.n-t Paul SeVrer Maintenance crew was very helpful in cleani.ng up my basemen� but there was some';damage done to my basement to the extent of about �L1.�.0. T asked Mr. Bl�t�ett t�hat should be done about �his and a]legedly he said that he would take care of it. I assumed that this me�nt that he would turn this in to the Corporation Counsel�s Office and that i,t would not be necessary for me to file any further claim. . However, when I d.id not hear from the City on this matter� I dis- � cussed this i�i.th Mr. Richard Hunt, the Supervisor of Sewer MaintPnance, and he told me that it was necessary to f`.i.le a claim with the �:�y Corporation Counsel1s Office within a period of thirty (30) days after this happened. Since I assumed that Mr. Blewett was to take care of this� I did not file the claam and thus apparently I cannot collect on this. Zf T would have lrnown I would have filed the claim within the thirty (30) day period; however� in the light of the fact that there was a misunderstanding between myself and the Sewer Crew Leader� I am respectful.ly requesting the City of Saint Pau1. to still honor my claim. Geisen, 1597 Old Hudson Road� relative to clamage done to her basement because of sewer cleaning operations on. Old Hudson Road during the month of . , September, 1967. During the cleaning of the se�rers on Old Hudson Road, the flushing of the sewer caused a back-up into the base�nt of Mrs;. Geisents home. The crew under the direction of P�Sr. Blewett t`r�arn the 3ewer Maintenance OffS.ce helped clean up the basement; ho�rever, there was damage done to the basement in the amount of �11.�.0. The claim made by T�irs. Geisen in the amount of �11.40 is entirely justified and I hereby recorunend that pa,yment be made to her.
