1 RESOLUTION HONORING DALE WARLAND AND THE DALE WARLAND SINGERS
2 ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR FAREWELL CONCERT AND CELEBRATTON
3 WHEREAS, the Dale Warland Singers, a 40-voice professional choir based in St. Paul's Ward 4, is recognized
4 as one of the world's foremost a capella choral ensembles; and
5 WHEEREAS, the Dale Warland and the Dale Wazland Singers have brought their wonderful talents and teaching
6 to Saint Paul Public School students throughout our city, tlu�ough the Cultural STAR Program; and
7 WHEREAS, after 31 years of concerts, tours, radio broadcasts and critically acclaimed recordings, and receiving
8 every award granted in the choral field, the ensemble will disband in June 2004 upon Dale Warland's
9 resignation, and
10 WHEREAS, according to Royce Saltzman, past president of the American Choral Directors Association, Dale
ll"Warland is indisputably one of the most nnportant figures in American choral music today, helping to bring
12 this art fozm out of academia and into the cultural mainstream..making it possible for living composers to write
13 choral music, assuring that a longstanding tradition remains vital, contemporary and relevant"; therefore be it
14 RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul Ciry Council extends its appreciation and congratula6ons to the Da1e Warland
15 Singers on the occasion of its farewell concert and celebration on Sunday, May 30, and be it further
16 RESOLVED that the Council wishes Da1e Warland success and satisfaction as he embarks on n� endeauors,
17 teaching, guest conducting, recording and composing.
