1 WHEREAS, historic preservation is an effective tool for managing growth, revitalizing neighborhoods,
2 fostering local pride and maintaining community chazacter while enhancing livabiIity; and
3 WIIEREAS, historic preservation is relevant for communities across the nation, both urban and rural, and for
4 Americans of all ages, all walks of life, and a11 ethnic backgrounds; and
5 WI3EREAS, it is important to celebrate the role of history in our lives and the contributions made by dedicated
6 individuals in helping to preserve the tangible aspects of the heritage that has shaped us as a people; and
WHEREAS, "New Frontiers in Preservation" is the theme for National Historic Preservation Week 2004, co-
sponsored by local partners in preservation and the National Trust for Historic Preservation; and
9 WHEREAS, May 3-9, 2Q04, is National Historic Preservation Week;
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council calls upon the people of Saint Paul to join
11 their fellow citizens across the United States in recognizing and participating in this special observance.
