Ms. Moermond explained that she prepares recommenda$ons for the City Council on the cases at this moming's cases. All of these cases presented here today will have a public hearing when they go back to the City Council. Laid over Summary Abatements from 3-09-04: J03TRASH4Q Providing weekly garbage hauling service at 1139 Beech Street The appellants, Antonio and Martha Fowler, 1139 Beech Street, explained that their trash had been stored in the gazage, but they had a problem with other people leaving their trash outside near the garage; four (4) to five (5) bags. The City brought out a container which was not used for the first two (2) weeks. Mr. Fowler called the inspector and asked what happens if he doesn't use the container. The inspector told him that even though he doesn't use it, he will still have to pay for it. So, Mr. Fowler did use the container for two (2) pick-up times. Mr. Fowler is hoping to get the assessment reduced because the trash the City picked-up was not his trash, but was left on his property. Ms. Moermond asked staff about the Suuunary Abatement. Mr. Robinson explained that a work order was sent to Parks to provide hauler service on December 4, 2003. On January 12, 2004, they faxed Parks to stop the hauler service. The period was approxunately five (5) weeks. Ms. Moermond noted that the garbage hauling service is $220, and the other chazge is $323 for picking up the bags of garbage that we left up against the gazage. Ms. Moermond added that these assessments aze set-up to be added to their taxes. Ms. Moermond recommended denial of the appeal of the yazd clean-up but cut the garbage hauling service fee in half, so that the assessment is $120 instead of $220, and will be divided over a period of three (3) yeazs. ' REPORT Date: March 23, 2004 Time: 10:00 a.m. Place: Room 330 City Hall 15 West Kellogg Boulevard LEGISLATIVE HEARING FOR ORDERS TO REMOVE/REPAIR, CONDEMNATIONS, AND ABATEMENT ASSESSMEsNTS Marcia Moermond Legislative Hearing Officer /1.
