WHEREAS, the Kennedy D4emorial Committee has initiated a
project to raise contributions to erect statues of the late President
John F. Kennedy and the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy in Como Park;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Saint Paul
recognizes and concurs in said project to erect statues of the late
President John F. Kennedy and the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy in
honor of their great contributions and devotion to public duties.

. On behalf of the Kennedy Memorial Corur.ittee I would like
to than'_�c T:r Byrne and rIr Tedesco for their corr�plete support of
our project. That prcject being to raise con.tributions to erect
a statue of the late Presid.ent John Kenr_edy and a statue of his
brother, the late Senator Pohert Kennedy in Como Park.
?�Te are able naw to begin a definite and positive program to
raise the funds. The schools are novr in session and �re trill be
• in contact �rith e�ery public and private elementary and secondary
school ir_ �his state. Our goal is to involve young people in the
. building of the Memorial, The pennies and nickles and dimes that
will be solicited t,rill build the statues, The Cherokee Sta+e Bank
� is the soie holder of funds. The Comrr�,ittee has an excellent at-
torne a d adviser, Mr John 2`_c Girl, There are also hurch and
o er IayT*�en invo vea - u it �s basically a project of youth.
• We FrilT accept funds from the old.er citizens of this sta.te. ?de
welcome their contributions. Hot•recer, youth will control the
project and youth ?aill be the main iactor.
In order that may have complet�e legality in our actions wotzid
the City Council of Saint P�ul_ pass a resolution and give us a pro-
clamation statir.g that the City of Saint Pau7. recognizes our pro-
�ect and •�rill al-lo?� a Memorial to be built? �^le are not sponsored
by the City o£ Sa�nt P�.u1 but T,re would. Zike a sanction for our �rork.
I have been, and will be, i.r_ touch t.aith members of the late
Senator Kennedy's fami.l.y. r'embers of his family will attend the
dedication of a suitable i'�':enorial.
