WHEREAS, one of the primary purposes of our Minnesota Constitution is to secure and protect the civil liberties and
rights of all of our people; and
WHEREAS, people of good will have different opinions on how and whether to address the rights and privileges for
consenting adult couples who wish to recognize their unions but who have historically not been perxnitted to marry;
and
WHEREAS, many such couples live in Saint Paul or have families who live in Saint Paul;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul goes on recard in opposition to a proposed
amendment to the Minnesota Constitution prohibiting marriage other than between one man and one woman or the
equivalent thereof.
