January 8, 1969 To the Honorabl Mayor and City Counc' 1 Gentlemen: The City Coun il taid over to January lOth the matter of the petition of Wolff Pro erties to rezone to light industry district property between Minnehaha Av nue and Beech Street and between Arcade and Hope Streets described as: Lots 3 and 4 and Lot 23, Block 1 , Schurmeier's Seventh Street Addi ion, and requested that the Public Works Department investi- gate the lo ation of the proposed highway in this area. Attached i a map showing the location of the subject lots in relation to the pro osed highway. Also shown on the map are the approximate constructi n limits for the highway construction as it is currently planned b the Highway Department. You will note that all of Lots 3 and 4, as well as approximately the southerly quarter of Lot 23, would be invol ed in the future highway taking. The high ay right-of-way acquisition and subsequent construction is not at pres nt definitely scheduled, but our own estimate of the situation is that th right-of-way acquisition will probably take place within the next "fi e to ten years. It is possible that the Highway Department, upon applic tion of landowners, could undertake some advance acquisition of right- f-way on a hardship basis once a definite highway plan is estab- lished. It is our belief that the Highway Department is within a few month of firming up its plan and proposing the general layout to the City Counc 1 for approval .
