04-29RESOLUTION CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA Presented By Referred to Committee: Date 1 WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota, Deparhnent of Natural Resources ( DNR) has awazded a 2 $20,000.00 Metro Greenways Land Restoration Grant to the City of Saint Paul to implement land 3 stewardship activities at the Highwood Nature Preserve, Cherokee Heights bluff, and East 4 Mississippi River bluffs, and WHEREAS, the project will span two years, from January 2004 - December 2005; and, 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 WHEREAS, Parks and Recreation is requesting that the 2004 adopted budget be amended to include $10,000 of Restoration Grant revenue; with the remaining $10,000 to be requested as an amendment to the 2005 budget; and, WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is required to provide a match in the amount of $20,000, and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council has agreed to provide a cash-match of the required project match, valuing $4,200; and, WHEREAS, $3,000 of the match from the Metropolitan Council is part of this 2004 budget amendment; with the remaining $1,200 to be requested as an amendment to the 2005 budget; and WHEREAS, the Division of Parks and Recreation is willing and able to provide a match of $16,000 in the form ofcash ($7,000), in-kind City labar ($7,500), and volunteer labor ($1,500) in 2004 and fulfill the remaining match of $15,000 in the form of cash ($2,500), in-kind City labor ($9,000), and volunteer labor ($3,500) in 2005. In order to accept, spend and enter into the grant ageement, which totals $20,000, Council must approve and agree to the budget amendment.
