04-27Council File # � ' �� /i!/ / �/��lV � — � � �`7� 07��� Resolution # Green Sheet # ����� RESOLUTION SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA � Presented By To Committee: Date 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 WFIEREAS, the City o aint Paul recognizes that the Governor's Stadium Screening committee has solicited proposals from all Minneso communities interested in hQSting the development of a new Twins ballpark, and such proposals will help fo?x��the Governor's recommendarion to the 20041egislature; and WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has�become a regional center for arts, culture and entertainment through a rich variety of organizations and institutio committed to creating a vibrant urban center; and WHEREAS, the City of Saint Pau1 has joined t ether time and time again to develop strong public and private partnerships to create economic growth,�vitality and wonderful opportunities to enhance urban living; anci WHEREAS, the Minnesota Wild and the Xcel Energy Cen have proven to be tremendous economic generators for the City and have made major contributions to an economic growth in our city; and WIIEREAS, the City of Saint Paul recognizes the strong potential o the Minnesota Twins to add to urban economic growth and vitality by locating in our City; and WIIEREAS, the City of Saint Paul recognizes that a public/private partners�.{p that allows for the cons#uction of a ballpazk in Saint Paul would be positive for the City, and rep�esents the investment of hundreds of millions of dollars in our community; and � must include a strong working relationship with the hospitality industry, labor, and others to ensure success; and WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul recognizes that a ballpark in Saint Paul must contribute to economic development objecfives, including bringing new visitars and jobs to the City and ge state and local taY revenues; and organizafions s broad new NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE50LVED, that the City of Saint Paul supports the vision of bringing the Minnesota Twins and a new ballpark to Saint Paul; oy a7 37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul supports the delivery of a proposal to the 3 8 Governor's Stadium Screening Committee to develop a new Twins ballpazk at the Gateway site in parinership 39 with the Twins and the State of Minnesota, provided that any such proposal will not require the use of City 40 generalfund funding.
