Attached is a copy of a bill prepared several years ago by our local residential association for introduction in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Though it has been � introduced a couple of times it has never received a hearing. The affect of this bill is to authorize construction of the so-called "26th Street Bridge" , thereby providing direct access from south Minneapolis to freeway #94 and downtown St. Paul without resource to the Marshall Avenue Bridge and St. Paul city streets. � The partial closing of the Marshall Avenue Bridge during the past few weeks has caused not just inconvenience but major traffic problems . That bridge will soon be open once again, but its temporary closing has demonstrated the need for the 26th Street crossing as Marshall Avenue bridge traffic volumes predictably increase during the next few years. We most earnestly urge that you direct the most appropriate lobbyists for the people of the City of St. Paul to obtain introduction and hearing for this important bill.
