Mazcia Moermond, Legisla#ive Hearing Officer
The hearing was called to order at 1:30 p.m.
STAFF PRESENT: Michael Urmann, Division of Fire Prevention
1383 Rice Street (Division of Fire Prevention)
(Ted Natus, owner, called to request a layover of this issue, as he could not attend the hearing
today.)
Michael Urmann explained that the bedroom would be unduly difficult or costly to install;
therefore, he does not oppose the appeal. He does not see signs of water damage, mold or
mildew damage.
Mazcia Moermond asked would he recommend an extension or a waiver of the requirement. Mr.
Urmann responded a waiver of the requirement with an attachment that if the owner ever does a
rehabilitation of the bathroom and it becomes cost effective, the owner would install it at that
time.
Ms. Moermond recommends a variance of the Deficiency List dated January 13, 2004 on the
following conditions: 1) if the rehabilitation of the bathrooms every becomes cost effective, the
windows or ventilation systems will be installed at that time pursuant to code; 2) the building
will otherwise be maintained in compliance with a11 relative codes and ordinances. The
appellants should be notified that they will not need to come to another hearing.
