04-254Council File # �7 � �S Resolution # Green Sheet # Q� �5 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 Presented By RESOLUTION CITY OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA � / (� Referred To Committee: Date W I�EREAS, as a HUD-approved housing counseling agency, the Saint Paul Department of Plamiing and Economic Development (PED) administers the Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Program which provides mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling to Saint Paul homeowners who have mortgage delinquencies and mortgage defaults; WHE1tEAS, PED's Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Program provided mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling to 487 homeowners facing mortgage defaults in 2003; and WHEREAS, the Mortgage Fareclosure Prevention Program also participates with the Family Housing Fund's Don't Borrow Trouble Campaign, which is an educational initiative to combat predatory real estate practices; and NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint Paul authorizes the Saint Paul Department of Planning and Economic Development to accept a$30,000 housing counseling grant agreement with the U.S. Departrnent of Housing and Urban Development (I�IJD) and execute the necessary grant agreements for the purposes of providing mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling to Saint Paul homeowners.
