Guillermo Rrias Day in the City of Saint Paul
2 WIIEREAS, Guiilermo (Willie) Frias adopted Saint Paul as his home, migrating here from Mexico; and
3 WIIEREAS, Wiliie worked two jobs to realize his dream of owning a West Side Restaurant, known as Boca
4 Chica, for nearly 40 years; and
5 WHEREAS, Willis's businesses, Boca Chica Restaurante and Boca Chica Taco House, served as catalyst far
6 revitalizafion and development of the West Side community; and
7 WHEREAS, Willie lived and appreciated music and people; he would spend hours visiting and connecting with
8 patrons, neighbors, and family; and
9 WHEREAS, Willie was an inspiration to others, particularly to family and friends from his native country of
10 Mexico, with his caze and compassion; and
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Saint Paul City Council hereby honors Guillermo (Willie)
12 Frias for his life, legacy, and untiring service, and proclaims Wednesday, February 25, 2004 to be Guillermo
13 Frias Day in the City of Saint Paul.
