04-1166Council File # � �' � � ��p Green Sheet # �tn3`� RESOLUTION OF SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA �$ Presented Referred To Committee Date Support for Rock Tenn WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul supports businesses that pay a living wage, are environmentally sound and contribute to the overali development strategies for the City and the region; and WF�REAS, the Rock Tenn Company is a long-term employer that meets these standards and employs more than 700 people at its facllity in Saint Paul; and WFIEREAS, the company is facing cost and other challenges that may jeopardize their ability to continue operating in the city; and WHEREAS, the loss of this quality employer, in the city, would significantly hann the City and regional economies; and WIIEREAS, action by the I.egislature will likely be a necessary component of any plans to aid Rock Tenn; and WHEREAS, the Saint Paul City Council is the policy making body for the City of Saint Paul and, as such, its work is inextricably linked to the City's I.egislative Agenda; now therefore be it RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul supports State funding, incentives and other assistance as part of a comprehensive plan to help maintain Rock Tenn as a major contributor to the economy of the City and region.
