04-1164Council File # �� v'7' GreenSheet#aC`� ��i7 RESOLUTION CITY Pres�t�a Refened To Support for Ford Motor Company Committee Date �� WI�REAS, the City of Saint Paul supports businesses that pay a living wage, are environmentally sound and contribute to the overal] development strategies for the City and the region; and WF3EREAS, the Ford Motor Company is a long-term employer that meets these standards and employs more than 1,800 people at its facility in Saint Paul; and WI�REAS, the company is facing cost and other challenges that may jeopardize their ability to continue operating in the city at their current levels; and WHEREAS, the loss of this quality employer, or a substantial reduction in their levels of activity in the city, would significantly harm the City and regional economies; and WHEREAS, action by the Legislature will likely be a necessary component of any plans to assist the Ford Motor Company; and WI�REAS, the Saint Paul City Council is the policy making body for the City of Saint Paul and, as such, iYs work is inextricably linked to the Ciry's Legislative Agenda; now therefore be it RFSOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul supports State funding, incentives and other assistance as part of a comprehensive plan to help maintain the Ford Motor Company as a major contributor to the economy of the Ci ty an region.
