Within a month the request was granted. Now your Honor, 30 months after the Federal Government set aside $12.3 million dollars as a start toward revitalizing this neighborhood. We stand here today asking that our City Fathers grant us the right to do what the Federal Government said they would help us do, 30 long months ago. I ask each of you in good conscience, does this malte snse? A personal note, in April of 1967 my family and i forcned a syndicate to build an eleven (11) family unit building using money out of a private sector, we raised $9,000.00 to launched this venture. In September of 1967 we engage a contractor and got a bid from him 30 days later. Today, this morning, riay 2, 1969 the contractor stated the building cost now has increased by $7,00.00. Thus $7000 of the $9,000 has vanished, engulf by inflation. tdith a baffl.ed mind, I ask you gentlemen, will your answer again be EJAIT? We understand further, that this committee subrnitted its proposals to the Mayor two weeks ago, and that it had received assurances that the Mayor would discuss his response with them before proceeding further. We were, therefore, surprised to read a report in yesterday's morning newspaper stating that, pttor to such response a position had been taken without ary further consulation rlth that committe or, presumably, with the community. 1Ne urge the Mayor and Council toconsider this approach to the problem. Since the report of the Interim Committee is now ready for tie Tlayor and Council to implement by taking it as promised to the community, we feel that any action on the Housing and Redevelopment Authority ' s proposal would be premature . Iii regard to the Martin Luther King Center, we encourage the Mayor and Council to put the Center into a separate category , and that the Interim Committee be approached to include in its report to the community on hiodel Cities a special recommendation that the Martin Luther King Center by affirmed by the committee and the plans for its development to proceed immediately. mt . ,' /f  aom the pastoQ's sy  , . , / • ,;i , -f'1-.ac  r` c  i b '-` v , i  _ , ,. .  - -  ^ l p f ' ` /  .   .d  %;:.t,: LJ t i" ,t.:..-•--   >   •-`-    `  ,,,. /v-, c/,, / `— ..,,..r,,-/_ o. /'G?=_'c:[-' .,:   1/1'1'L'✓i' / r f- ., /',..-. , ' ....•.-. 1"    ,,.:  -y* ,.,,,,.--. ' .wl.----G    %•zz--syyj'  ..,.1 A-  ;c.:- •' 7G  . / `  - , .-  . 6.-_ / -'-"` ny  j /i✓j /02 J► / / r...-^----  ; / f,; ,c.r L _S-/ ,/'!  vN.•b'LL''"'- /"' C"-'/it 1--'"  `   ^  H` /  1 /,, [.wt .cvr i 7- ,,--.-" ";' j Q''"'"' F`, /  f-  ` , f- r✓ v1,.:+r ,,ti--f" .• j !'.w++'''  ✓ / , /, f,, r.--'vM--^"''   `j•-\.'  U--6.....-, .  `; ,   .,/ r--L   /  / `„_ , 'fi J .;,.,+t , , ,,:..t,..' l—-,-,^- ' (/ .l /'.,,, .- `r/   " `  / . /  c"- a  . w , , , ,      ?  ''   , ., :....-f --, % Qti       c j . 1  ..,  t    . ,  om thE pastoR's stuy / /l''  ff/l N   c iL Gf"'^ /  e t, ty Li / / c'i: 1 l'1„- lv/ //   1 /J  ,,,,  '""`r'` 1 Z5 ✓tJ`"''f ]    .  az,-H ._-•' , /h  C'U a     lYw1 -- L- — G'  /d 0 /' 1'  sv f  {.,+w Nn . l✓I  HA  C'✓f!/"C t T - K/  f' ;  1,,,,  -s . ... ,L   / !-' P,.,..P ., L ?'- "' H f+---     r ._, ¢- !.- v, / .-r-t 'v ..- d .•.-Q v  /y,.f" [(,tI C!< 1. ,r. t C Gf.rs' / /  ,  / aCJ .,  G1-.! "` ` 'r-( o -- , 7=-- `"' , / /  f  ry G- / „ "///,c tiG,4 Gu// / `/  " (  '  ..'   ") u,, .,_. -  `~  G ..,,,,.w----, v /'`v""r „" :Y -'- n --  ^  _.- G.... ,- 1 '   `_ ,,.'-     /y ,  0 .(L„ !' ,•YN .'Yl .., , ..n ,.,•`" f,•..2 V •I.f✓v -M i  wi`,/ / < <'`"  "'Q  G 6/ I w Gj G  " y Ltr i! • / ,Q.. __ _ -- - lv.P .i1/ln l Gr* /,v l .-I -j...Y Gi vti. s-N/ O ' u F -f:1  a"'-- r '  Lti "i`'G-I'J L,;, h O i---, w p `sa h `G ' i/lM CK. 7' 1''` tin +/ ..- _ t /   / Lw c1 L-,y1, a',r,s•--J Gf'.iv  U Y   O, l'✓Yyy,.''I M` K/.-.. Oc.-.L    .-cGl /-^"-f'1'' JL' 'yµ..'.  C  iyµ.  , ..,  ,. ,    / L/) -a-•µR- fiK 'yN"" Q'Hifi . J  I  ,,,,/ f /J .. --- G zi° u' "' ' C°ytir /  ,  , .. . _ / / _  % j., " ' EXHIBIT "A" SITE A: T.ots 1 through 37, Re-Arrangement of the South one half (S 2) of Block 9, together with Lots 13 through 17, Block 11, Butter- field Syndicate Addition No. 1.  - SITE B: Lots 1 through 14 and Lots 20 through 30, Block 11, Mackubin and Marshalls Addition. f SITE C: Lots 1 through S and Lots 7 through 30, Rlock 14; together with that part of Lots 1 through 7 lying North of the Northerly Right of-way line of InterstaCe Highway No. 94, Block 15, Mackubin and Marshall's Addition.  SITE D: Block 2, Scribner and Crittenden's Subdivision; together with Block 7, Edwin Dean's Second Addition.
