McKENNA, Deputy Commissioner Phone:223-4646 June 24, 1969 The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council h Gentlemen: The other day I spoke to A1 Schroeder, representing the State of Minnesota, about the procedure the state follows when public hearings are being held by the various departments of state government. This would apply to transit, pollution, open spaces, etc. Mr. Schroeder said he is required by state law to notify only those people who had exnressed a desire to the Secretary of State to be advised. He has examined the list from the Secretary of State which has 350 names on it, and nobody from St. Paul is on it except the Bureau of Health. He suggests that the City of St. Paul request that the city clerk, representing the council, be notified of all such hearings, r I would recommend that the council pass a resolution requesting the Secretary of State to notify the city clerk of all such hearings.
