WHEREAS, it appears desirable that the City of Saint Paul
should participate with the organization known as Big Brothers
of Greater St. Paul, Incorporated, a non-profit corporation� in
a program designed to work with pre-delinquent an.d delinquent
fatherless boys , ages 8 th rough 17; and
Wf�REAS, it appears further desirable that the City should
request the grant from the Federal government through the appro-
priate State agency for the purpose of financing a portion of such
program, the local share of such contributions to be furnished by
Big Brothers of Greater St. Paul� Incorporated; and
WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States, pursuant to the
provisions of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of
i968, has presently an established program for providing, among
other things , financial assistance to local government bodies
through application for funds to be filed with the appropriate
State agency; and
WI�REAS, the State of Minnesota has designated the Governor' s
Crime Commission under the chairmanship of the Attorney General as
the appropriate State agency to receive application for financial
assistance from local government units ; and
� WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul has determined th at the funds
� needed to carry out such program as hereinabove described is in an
amount of �10, 580,
.,o Now, Therefore, be it
� RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Saint Paul, that
�^ application be and is hereby made to the Governor' s Crime Commission
� of the State of Minnesota for a grant in the amount of �10, 580, for
� � the purpose of financing a portion of such program designed to work
with pre-delinquent and delinquent fatherless boys ; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Honorable Thomas R. Byrne, Mayor
of the City of Saint Paul , is hereby authorized to execute� on behalf
