that variance to certain provisions of Chapter 21 of �he St. . Paul
Legislative Code , dealing with elevators , be granted ��n.cl that
�ontinued use of the elevator be allowed for a period . of twc years
at which time the matter be scheduled for rehearing by the �oarcl

Ervin H. Otteson appealed for the continued use of an illegal
basement apartment at 644 Sherwood Avenue. The committee agreed
to recommend to the full Board at the August 13 , 19�9 m.eet :ing
that Section 54 . 13 paragraph 7 of the St . Paul Legislative Code
stating :
"No dwelling unit partially below grade sha�l be
used for living purposes",
and Section 54 .13 paragraph 4 stating :
"No space in any cellar shall be used for
sleeping purposes",
be waived for 644 Sherwood Avenue on the condition that u�on th�
sale or transfer of ownership of 644 Sherwood Avenue t:hat t;he
' basement occupancy be permanently vacated in full com�liance
with the St. Paul Legislative Code.
