Dear Sir:
This is written in response to the application of Wolff Properties for
a permit to install a 120-car parking lot to be used in conjunction with
Merit Chevrolet on property located on the north side of Beech between
vacated Hope and Arcade Streets. This property is further described as:
Lots 3 through 7 and vacated alley accruing, Block 1,
Schurmeier's 7th Street Addition.
This matter was considered at the October 3, 1968, and July 17, 1969,
Board of Zoning meetings. Just prior to the October 3, 1968, meeting it
was discovered that a portion of the site was not zoned properly for this
proposed use. The application was laid over and subsequently, this property
was rezoned by the City Council on May 24, 1969.
At the July 17, 1969, meeting the staff reported that with one change
agreed to by the applicant the plans meet required design standards and have
the approval of the Traffic Engineer. This site has been indicated as
property to be acquired for highway purposes.
Subsequently, it was the finding of the Board of Zoning that this
application should be approved because the property is now zoned properly,
and because plans meet required design standards and have the approval of
the Traffic Engineer. Therefore, the Board recommends approval by a 5-0 vote.
