WAER AS, the Council of the City of Saint Paul has
- heret ore , by Resolution of the Council , Council File No.
229986, adopted September 1, 1g66, determined on the part
of the City to assume the obligation of matching employee
payments for "buy-back" of past service oredits as authorized
pursuant to the provisions of Minnesota Statutes 1g65, Chapter
353, the Public Employees Retirement Association. statutes ; and
WHEREAS, the Counc il of the City of Saint Paul did
heretofore , by its Resolution, Council File No. 234838, adopted
August 30, �.g67, determine on the part of said City to assume
the obligation of matching the employee purchase of contributions
on full salary for the period July 1, 195'7 to July 1� 1967, as
authorized pursuant to the provisions o� Chapter 687, Laws of
Minnesota for i967, coded as a portion of the Public Employees
Retirement Association statutes ; and
WHEREAS, the aforesaid "buy-back" privileges, which were
continued under Chapter 687, Laws of Minnesota for 1967,expired
by virtue of the provisions of such statutes ; and �
WHEREAS, Laws of Minnesota for 196g, Chapter 999, Section
3, permits reinstatement to employees of the aforementioned "buy-
back" privilege an.d also permit s of re ins tatement of matchin.g
contributions with respect thereto by employing municipalities ,
Now, Therefore , be it
RESOLVED, upon the recommendation of the City�s Health
and Welfare Committee, that the Council of �he City of Saint
Paul hereby determines on the part of said City to assume the
obligation of matching employee '�buy-back" of past service
credits as authorized pursuant to the provisions of Minnesota
Statutes i967, Chapter 353, as amended.
