W HEREAS, the Summit Avenue brid§e over Ayd Mill Road and Canadian Pacific Railway, Bridge
No. 62504 was hit by a train on September 15, 2003; and

WHEREAS, the bridge sustained a considerable amount of damage; and
WHEREAS, the City Bridge Engineer has inspected the bridge and has estimated the repair costs
to be $300,000 for construction and engineering; and
W HEREAS, the Canadian Pacific Railway has reviewed the City's repair plan and costs, finds
them acceptable and will fund the cost of said repairs; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul does hereby agree to prepare final repair contract
documents and bid out the work to a Ioca! contractor, the Canadian Pacific Railway may review
the bids and award will be made by the City to the lowest responsible bidder. The City will
administer and inspect the construction contract; and so,
THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the Council of ihe City of Saint Paul, upon
recommendation of the Mayor and advice of the Long Range Capital Improvement Budget
Committee, that $300,000 is available for appropriation in the 2004 Capital Improvement Budgets,
