WHEREAS , Melvin Bacon, an employee of the Department of
Public Safety, Bureau of Police, was injured in a third party
accident on April 21, 1968 , while en�aged in the performa�ce
of his duties ; and
WHEREAS , the City has incurred medical expense in the amount
of $59.00 therefor� and said employee was disabled from work for
a period of time being paid salary in the amount of $30 .60 for
which the City may claim credit at the rate of $60.00 per week; and
WHEREAS , a settlement has been negotiated between said emPloyee
and the other party involved in said accident, which provides for
a net settlement to the City in the amount of $71.00 , now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, that the proper City Officers are hereby authorized
to accept the sum of $71.0'O: in full, final and complete settlement
of its claim herein and to execute any necessary releases therefor,
and to endorse check of Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in the
amount of $89.60 ; that of said sum, $59.00 is thereby credited to
the Workmen' s Compensation Fund, $12.00 ` to the Police Salary Fund,
and a check in the amount of $18.60 be issued to Melvin Bacon.
