• Dear Mr. McLaughlin:
I am writing on behalf of Robert J. Mitch, president
of R. J. Mitch, Incorporated, who respectfully requests
. that the City Council grant R. J. Nlitch, Incorporated,
permission to move his on-sale liquor license to the
property commonly known as 1305 West Seventh Street, St. Paul,
Minnesota. Enclosed herewith you will find completed appli-
cation, affidavits , and copy of Earnest Money Contract
covering the purchase by the corporation of the above
property.
The premises at 1305 West Seventh Street consist of
a building now occupied by Lodie's Restaurant and a beauty
shop. The building is owned by Dr. Albert L. Geiser and
wife who have entered into the enclosed contract for the
sale of this property to R. J. Mitch, Incorporated. It is
the intent of the corporation to cause the portion of this
building now occupied by the restaurant to be remodeled
and equipped with a first class bar with light meal service.
The corporation has a firm commitment for financing the
purchase of the building and the remodeling and equipping '
of this property. , -
Robert J. Mitch and his wife, Catherine I. Mitch, are
the sole stockholders , directors, and officers of this cor ,
poration. Lisle Jessmer, Jr. , formerly an officer of this
corporation, has resigned.
I am sure that you and the members of the City Council '
are acquainted with Mr. Mitch's business reputation since
he operated the Downtowner Cocktail Lounge at 347 Robert
Street from 1957 to the fall of 1967 when the building in •

which he was located was taken by the Housing & Redevelopment
Authority of the City of St. Paul. A little over a year ago
Mr. Mitch applied for a transfer of his liquor license to
1050 Grand Avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota. Following the filing
of this application, Mr. Mitch sustained a severe coronary
and the application was accordingly withdrawn. Since that
time he has undergone two surgical procedures for correction
of damage occurring as a result of his heart attack.
Since the license held by the corporation is presently
in an inactive status , we would appreciate it if this appli-
cation would include a transfer from ..inactive status to
active status and a subsequent transfer to 1305 West Seventh
Street, St. Paul, Minnesota.
I would appreciate it if you would refer this request
to the License Committee and advise me when they will et
to consider this request. In the meantime, if there is any
further information I can supply to you, please contact me.
Very truly yours ,
,
