THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Ordinance No. 7607, approved February 13,
1935, as amended, be and the same is hereby further amen.ded by striking
out the minimum qualifications i.n the specifications for Bacteriologist-
Chemist I a.nd for Deputy Chief of Police; and by substituting in lieu thereof,
respectively, the following;
Bacteriologist..Chemist I
�'College graduation with a major in chemistry and a min.or.in
biology or a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.
Must have at least si.x �r�dits_.in bacteriology. �1Vo sub-
stitution for education. �"
Deputy Chief of Police
"High school graduation. Must have held the position of Captain.
i.n the St. Paul Police Department for at least three years.
�No substitution for experience. }i'
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect an.d be in force
thirty days after its passage, approval, and publication.

This ordinance will change the requirements for
Bacteriologist-Chemist I and allow us to recruit graduates v�i���
medical technology background.
This ordinance will also change the requirements for the
Deputy Chief of Police by striking the titles Police Captain
and Detective Lieutenant which no longer exist in our Police
Depa rtment.
