1 WHEREAS, on September 3, 1913, Evelyn Edith was born in the City of St. Paul to John and Ellen
2 Gaetke, the oldest of four children; and
3 WHEREAS, being of above average intelligence Evelyn went straight from the bottom of the second
4 grade to the top of the fourth grade allowing her to graduate from Humboldt High School at the young
5 age of 16; and
6 WHEREAS, having a strong sense of responsibility Evelyn went on to help support her family as a
7 secretary at American Can Company with the extraordinary ability to type 110 words per minute (on a
8 manual typewriter); and
9 WHEREAS, one day Evelyn met Frank Yoswa at the Coliseum Roller Rink on Lexington and University
10 Avenue, which ultimately led to their wedding day on Evelyn's birthday, September 3, 1938; and
11 WHEREAS, Frank and Evelyn's union culminated in three exceptional children, Richard James, James
12 Francis and Carole Jeanne and subsequently nine grandchildren, Tommy, Terry, Bobby, Matt, Joe, Julie,
13 Jill, Billy and Bobby, who gave her 15 precious great grandchildren; and
14 WHEREAS, Evelyn labored for many years at the Hotel St. Paul, Lowry Hotel and Ramsey County
15 Probate Court, in addition to Sundayfamilyspaghetti dinnerswith pineapple-orange "freezercake". Thus
16 retiring at age 65 Evelyn went on to get her driver's license and have her ears pierced; and
17 WHEREAS, not being of a sedentary nature, Evelyn went on to knit, crochet, bowl, do crossword
18 puzzles, play cribbage, blitz, poker and games of chance on professional sports teams; and

i WHEREAS, for 90 years Evelyn Yoswa being of exceptional character has been a responsible daughter,
2 a loving wife, a devoted mother, and a caring grandmother and great-grandmother; now therefore be it
3 RESOLVED, in honor of Evelyn Yoswa's 90"' birthday, that Wednesday, September 3, 2003 be declared

in the City of St. Paul.
