RESOLVED, that the proper City officials are hereby authorized
and directed to enter into an agreement between the City of Saint
Paul, by and through its Department of Parks and Recreation and
Public Buildings, and Chicago Zoological Society for the loan of
"Ginger" , an orangutan to be used by the Como Zoo for display and
breeding purposes.

� A G R E E M E N T
WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public
Buildings is directed by the Charter of the City of Saint Paul ,
Section 418, to provide, either directly or by lease or privileges
approved by the Council , such conveniences , accommodations and _
entertainments as he may deem proper for the use, enjoyment or
recreation of all persons visiting said parks, parkways , or play-
grounds under his jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the Commissioner deems that the use of a female orangutan
on loan from the Chicago Zoological Society �or display and breeding
purposes is a proper convenience, accommodation, and entertainment
' for the use, enjoyment or recreation of those persons visiting Como
Zoo; now, therefore, j
IT IS HEREBY AGREED, between the CITY OF SAINT PAUL, a municipal
corpoiation,hereinafter called "City" , and THE CHICAGO ZOOLOGICAL
SOCIETY, the managers of the Chicago Zoological Park, hereinafter
called "Society" , that Ginger, a female orangutan, be loaned to
City for use at its Como Zoo , upon the following terms and conditions:
1 . Society will deposit Ginger with City for use at the Como
Zoo for display and breeding purposes until which time Society requests
the return of same.
2. Society shall decide the ownership and disposition of .
Ginger ' s offspring.
3. Society shall not request the return of Ginger or th�
removal of Ginger' s offspring without giving City a minimum of three
(3) months notice.
4. City shall in tlle even-c of Gi�lger ' s ;ieatYi while at the
Como 70o provide a post-mortem report to Society, and to preserve
the �skeleton intaet for return to Society.
