RESOLVED, that pursuant to the Award of the Minnesota
Industrial Commission, dated November 5, 1970, Richard J.
Schmidt be paid in accordance with the JD provisions of
Section 52 of the St. Paul City Charter for the period of
16 2/5 weeks between January 6, 1970, and Ma.y 1, 1970,
when he was temporarily totally disabled, and for the
period of 5 3/5 weeks between May 1, 1970, and June 8, 1970,
when he was temporarily partially disabled and, further,
that when said JD benefits under Section 52 of the St. Paul
City Charter have been used, compensation at the rate of
$45.00 per week be paid Richard J. Schmidt for disability
resulting from an injury of May 30, 1968 , while employed by
the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Police
FURTHER RESOLVED, that out of the aforesaid compensation,
25% be deducted and paid directly to Robert E. Faricy for
attorney's fees herein and reimbursement be made to Richard
J. Schmidt in the amount of $407.65 for payment of drug and
medical expenses in connection with the injury of May 30, 1968,
and, further, that the employer pay directly the following
outstanding medical bills : Dr. Lobell - $218 .00; Dr. Auran -
$50.00; Dr. Strauff - $32.50; Dr. Fischer - $82.50; Dr.
Bellomo - $327 .50; and Dr. Z. Miller - $138 .00.

RE: Richard J. Schmidt - Workmen's Comp
DATE: December 2, 1970
Richard J. Schmidt, a police officer, was injured on
May 30, 1968 . He was assaulted while trying to arrest a
party for disorderly conduct. Subsequently, he suffered
some emotional problems which his doctors attributed to
this incident and his general occupation as a police officer.
A Stipulation of Settlement was entered into between the City
and Mr. Schmidt, through his attorney Bob Faricy, and the
Minnesota Industrial Commission issued an Award in accordance
with the terms thereof on November 5, 1970. This resolution
authorizes payment of the amounts set out in the Stipulation
and Award.
