WHEREAS, the City Architect has requested the City Council
to hold a public hearing to consid.er the ad,visability and necessity of the
correction or wrecking and removal of the double garage at 624 East Cook
Street, ("New File, ") more particularly described as Lot 4, Block 6,
Arlington Hills Addition, because said. building is reported to constitute
a hazardous structure, and
WHEREAS, it appears that the last known record owners of the
building are George J. Br:wwn, Harry R. Stewart and Normalee Stewart;
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that a public hearing be held by and before the
Council of the City of Saint Paul, . in the Council Chamber of the Court
House in said city at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 1970, to consider the
advisability and necessity of ordering the correction or wrecking and removal
of the structure on the above described, property because said structure is
reported. to constitute a hazard.ous building and a hazard to public health,
:a..fety and welfare; be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Architect, on behalf of the
City Council, notify by mail the record owner of the property in q,uestion
at the last known address, as well as other interested persons of record.,
of the date and, time of the hearing.

Re: File #1995--Garage only at 624 E. Cook St.
Gentlemen:
The Building Department is hereby submitting its report
on the condition of the garage at the rear of 624 E. Cook Street.
The owner of record is Ceorge J. Brown, Harry R. Stewart and
Normalee Stewart. The legal d,escription of the property is Lot 4,
•Block 6, Arlington Hills Addition.
The garage measures 18 ft, wide, 28 ft. long and is
approximately 14 ft. high. A recent inspection indicates that the
garage is in a very deteriorated and dilapid.ated. cond.ition. The
siding is missing, roof boards and roofing are missing, some of the
roof boards have dry rot and some of the roof rafters have rotted
completely off. The build.ing has sagged and is considered dangerous
to life, limb and, adjoining property and. should be wrecked and
removed. It is the recommend.ation of this Bureau that this matter
be referred to the City Attorney's office for condemnation through
the District Court.
