Dear Mr. Marshall:
This is written in response to the application of Richard E.
Sagstetter for a permit to install a 44-car parking lot to be used
in conjunction with a proposed 36-unit apartment building on the
southwest corner of West Hoyt Avenue and Marion Street. This
property is further described as:
Lots 1-7, Block 12, Rice Street Villas and
easterly 10 feet of vacated alley adjoining.
This matter was considered at the January 22, 1970, Board of
Zoning meeting. The staff summarized their report noting that the
property was rezoned to "C" Residence as part of a larger area in
December, 1969. It was noted that requested revised plans meet
required design standards and the recommendation of the Traffic
Engineer. The Traffic Engineer also notes, however, that more
spaces are provided than required but they may not meet the demand,
and future restrictions may be necessary in the area.
One neighborhood resident appeared in opposition and expressed
concern as to whether the parking is adequate for the number of
units in the proposed apartment building.
After some discussion a motion was made and seconded to recommend
denial. This motion was defeated by a vote of 3-2, and the Board of
Zoning, therefore, recommends approval of this application.
