to be in accordance with Chapter 12 of the 5aint Paul City Charter
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
4 Chapter 9. Department of Fire and Safety Services
5 Sec. 9A1 ( c)
6 Fire Chief,• powers and duties. The fire chief shall be appointed by the mayor with the consent of the council
7 and shall serve for a term of , six (6�vears. 3�e The fire chief
8 shall be in the unclassified service of the city. The fire chief shall be accountable to the mayor and, subj ect to
9 ius the mavor's supervision and control, shall administer the affairs of the department. �3e The fire chief shall
10 have general authority and control over all deparhnental staff and shall oversee the proper fulfillment of all tasks
11 and duties assigned to the department. 3�e The fire chief shall have the power to prescribe such rules and
12 regulations as ixe the fire chief deems necessary or expedient for the proper operation of the department and to
13 that end shall keep iiinise}€ informed of the latest administrative practices. The fire chief shall have the power
14 and duty to take all personnel actions, including hiring, assigning and reassigning employees, including
15 supervisory personnel, within iiis the department and shall supervise their performance.

17 This ordinance shall take effect and be in force thirty (30) days following the passage, approval and pubiication.
