Arne H. Cazlson, in 4 recognition of the Peaceful Love Warriors' commitment to respecring and promoting the diversiTy of Frogtown and 5 Summit University communities and in celebration of "Expression of Peace Day" , the day of dedicating and 6 cultivating a Community Peace Pole; and 7 WIIEREAS, on Friday June 13th, 1997, the Traveling Peace Pole was officially dedicated and planted on the 8 northwest corner of University and Dale street; and 9 WHEREAS, the Peace Pole was recognized as one of Frogtown's thirty-four `Community Treasures'; officially 10 making the Peace Pole a community symbol of welcome, respect, and responsive to an inclusive community; and ll WI IEREAS, over one-hundred Peace Poles have sprouted through-out the state of Minnesota as a direct result from 12 the December 19th, 1996 Peace Pole dedication and cultivation; and 13 WHEREAS, Friday June 13th, 2003, will be the seventh anniversary of the first community Peace Pole pianted, in 14 conjunction with the Peaceful Love Warriors; therefore, be it as - s �,g� 1 RESOLVED, that in recognition and acknowledgment of the Peace Pole's symbolic welcoming, respectful and 2 unifying presence through-out Minnesota, and, in particulaz, St.Paul's Midway azea of Frogtown and Sununit- 3 University communities, that the City Council proclaims the Dale Street and University Avenue intersection to be 4 the first official "Peace Gate" to enter our Peaceful Communities of Frogtown and Summit-University; and be it 5 further 6 RESOLVED,thattheSaintPaulCityCouncilrecognizesthefirsttwoPeacePolesplantedinourneighborhoodshall 7 serve as the foundation of the Peace Bridge between Frogtown and Suuunit-University on June 13, 2003.
