WHEREAS, The Board of Water Commissioners of the City of
Saint Paul, by its resolution adopted October 26� 1970, a copy
of which is attached hereto, did authorize a cha.nge of practice
of cha.rging the City of Saint Paul on a fire hydrant rental and
installation basis� and the said Board, at the same meeting� did
establish the sum of $11,803.00 as compensation from the City for
water used in the extin uishment of fires (as required by Section
460 of the City Cha.rter�; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED� Tha.t the Council of the City of Saint Paul does
hereby concur in the action taken by �he Board of Water Commissioners
in all re5peets, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit
a copy of this resolution to the Board President.

At a Special Meeting of the Board of Water Commissioners held on
Monday, October 26 , 1970 , the following Resolution was adopted.
WHEREAS, it has been the practice over a period of years
� for the Board of Water Commissioners to charge a
sum to the Fire Bureau of the City of St . Paul for
hydrant rental and for hydrant installation, and
WHEREAS, it is now the intention that these charges shall
be discontinued and that any and a11 sums carried
on the books of the Water Department as an item
of accounts receivable from said Fire Bureau are
herewith cancelled, and
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of St. Paul req,uires that
all water used by any department of the City shall
be paid for, and whereas , the aforementioned item
of hydrant rental included a cost of water used
in the extinguishment of fires ;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Fire Bureau be billed
for a11 charges due to the Board of Water Commissioners
for the consumption of water used in the extinguish-
ment of fires and that there is now due for the
period ending December 31 , 1970 , the sum of $11 ,803 . 00
in full payment for all water used by said Fire
Bureau in the extinguishment of fires wliich sum is
provided for in the budget of said Fire Bureau for
1971 , and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be
forwarded to the City Council of the City of St. Paul
for any action necessary by said Council .
