1 Resolution approving the use of STAR funds to create
2 a basketball court at Dunning Field
3 WHEREAS, the basketball courts were removed in 1997 firom Dunning Field, and
4 WHEREAS, the Neighborhood STAR Board reviewed a proposal by the Dunning Boosters to
5 reconstruct the basketball court and awarded $3,000 towards that end; and
6 WHEREAS, there is a need for basketball courts in that part of the City of Saint Paul; and
7 WNEREAS, the proposal will provide a unique recreational opportunity of citywide benefit, and is
8 supported by the City Council; and
9 WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Saint Paul City Council to participate in the financing of this
10 activity by providing an additional $13,400 from the Neighborhood Initiative Investment Fund
11 allocation; and
12 WHEREAS, because this public improvement project is of substantial community significance, a
13 waiver of the STAR Guidelines in regards to the applicant and matching fund requirements is
14 required; now therefore be it
15 RESOLVED, that upon the recommendation of the Mayor, pursuant to Section 10.07.4 of the
16 City Gharter, the Gity Council does hereby amend the 2002 budget for the Dunning Field in the
17 following manner:
