Dear Sir:
This is written in response to the application of
the First Investors Limited Partnership for a permit to
install a 32-car expansion of parking lot in two separate
areas in connection with a 136-unit existing apartment
project on property located south of Hillsdale Avenue
between McKnight Road and Winthrop Street. This property
is further described as:
Lot 1, Block 1, Weitzman's Battle
Creek Addition.
This matter was considered at the August 6, 1970,
Board of Zoning meeting. The staff reported that this
application asks for a permit to provide additional
parking for an existing apartment project which was
previously approved. The staff noted that revised plans
have been requested which will meet required design
standards and comply with required setbacks and previous
permit conditions.
The Board of Zoning discussed the need for additional
parking for this apartment complex and subsequently, by a
4-1 vote, recommends approval of this application, subject
to the staff recommendations.
Revised plans received August 25, 1970, meet the
staff recommendations.

PRESENT: Messrs. Ames, Gadler, Gauger, McPartlin, and Mansur of the Bosrd,
and r�essrs> Brown and Sar�r�son, and r.rs. Frantzen of Che staff.
FIRST INV'ESTORS LIl�IITED PARTNERSHIP: An application for n pennit to instell
a 32-car expansion of parking lot in two separate �reas in connection with a
136-unit exfsting apartment pro3ect on property located south of Hillsdale
Avenue between McKnight Raad and Win:thr�p Street.
Mro Gauger moved for suspension of the Zoning Board rules in order to hear
this matter earlier than it originally appeared on the agenda. The motion
was seconded by Mr, PSansur, and carried by a 4-I vote, with hlr, Gadler
voting against the change of order.
Mr. Sorenson noted �hat there �av�e been parking problems theie. Revisions
have been suggested to the applicant sU as to camply with design standards,
previaus permit conda.tions, �nd required setbacks.
N;r. ames conunented that this matter has been brou�ght to the attention of
Che City Cc�uncil by irate neighbors complainin� of lack of parking for the
aparCment project.
With regard to the former application, Mr, +Gadlez said the applicant promised
faithfully that everything would be done carrectly, and now the nexghborhood
is unhappy with the cir_c�unstances.
In reply, Mr, Ames noted that the applicant followed what the Cfty Council
suggested for the area, but now additional parlcing is needed.
Mr, Mansur moved for approval of the appBication, su.bject to staff
recommendations b�ing followed. The uiotion was seconded by Aqx:. Gauger,
