RESOLVED, that the Council hereby ratifies and approves the
action of the Board of Appeals at its meeting of May 27, 1970
pertaining to the property located at 160 East Kellogg Blvd. ,
Farwell, Ozmun, Kirk & Co. , and granting ,,an extension of time ,
until May l, 1971 to allow continued use and operation of certain
currently uncertified elevators at the property; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED that such extension of time be granted only
if the terms and conditions as set forth in the proposal dated
May 28, 1970 to the Board of Appeals and signed by D. H. Beaudette,
Vice President - Operations , Farwell, Ozmun, Kirk & Co. , a copy
of which, marked EXHIBIT "A" attached hereto, and made a part
hereof by reference, be complied with in all respects; and be it;
FINALLY RESOLVED, that all work to be performed according to
said proposal be completed on or before the end of the fourteenth
week following the date of publication of this resolution.

ELEVATORS
Gentlemen:
At your request and pursuant to our discussion of yesterday, we are sub-
mitting to you in writing our proposal for the temporary continued operation
of certain currently uncertified elevators at Farwell's building. �
Farwell proposes the following relative to the three currently uncertified
elevators:
l. The company will immediately order the installation of
a roof and inside door gates on all openings for all
three elevators. The completion of this could take up
to six weeks.
2. The company will immediately order the installation in
one of the three elevators of the following items:
a. New steel railings for all nine
floors.
b. A new safety device and a new sling. ..
� c. A new cab.
d. A hoist way machine limit switch.
e. A governor.
f: Change elevator motor from D. C. to A. C.
This work may take up to fourteen weeks f or completion. .

3. Upon the completion of the work on the rehabilitated
elevator referred to in Item 2 above, the remaining two
� uncertified elevators will be closed down. .
4. The uncertified passenger elevator and the lift will be
closed down immediately.
As you know, we plan to be in our new building not later than May l, 1971,
so we request that this variance be allowed to exist until only that time,
May l, 1971, or such earlier date as we might vacate the premises.
If you will indicate to us that this proposal is satisfactory, we will move
imanediately to take the steps described above.
